The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) will be running a magical illuminated steam train in the build up to Christmas.

Not only will the Northern Lights Express be lit up, but so too will be parts of the forest that it runs through.

The spectacular illuminated train, which will undoubtedly be a hit with families and turn more kids into steam railway enthusiasts, will start with a pre-show on Platform 1 at Pickering Station for the lighting of the train before it travels “through an enchanted forest, transformed by a multitude of lights and surprises” to Levisham Station. At Levisham there will be a light show as the heritage steam engine prepares for the return journey.

The Northern Lights Express will operate: 30 November & 1, 7, 8, 12*, 13*, 14, 15, 19*, 20*, 21, 22 & 23* December, departing at 7pm. (*Two evening services will operate on highlighted dates departing at 5pm and 7pm.)
