The KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence has unveiled its plans for a new aviation museum and conference centre at Kelowna International Airport.

Site preparation work will start this autumn on the site on Lapointe Drive beside the Kelowna International Airport, across the road from their current airfield facilities.

For half a century, KF Aerospace has specialised in aircraft maintenance and modifications, military aircrew training, air cargo operations and leasing solutions for corporate, commercial and military customers. The KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence is a non-profit organisation established as a legacy project by KF Founder, Barry Lapointe.

Tracing the history of aviation in the Okanagan, the 60,000 sq. ft the aviation museum will feature two hangars for heritage aircraft displays, including a Convair CV-580 and Douglas DC-3, as well as a Hawker Tempest MKII (currently under restoration at the KF Aerospace maintenance facility).

Complete with an airfield viewing gallery, cafeteria area and an upper story for conference rooms, the Centre will host public tours and educational programmes, and provide visitor access from the Kelowna Rail Trail.

The Centre is expected to open in the Spring of 2022.
