Another eVTOL Air Taxi Brand to Debut at the Olympics

Archer Aviation has been selected as the Official Air Taxi Provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Paralympic Games, and Team USA .

This mirrors the plans of Volocopter at last year’s Olympics in Paris, which in the end failed to come about.

Similarly, Archer’s Midnight eVTOL aircraft hopes to transport VIPs, fans, and stakeholders around their network of vertiports at key venues. It’s a big stage for Archer to perform on; Los Angeles is expected to host over 15 million visitors and broadcast to billions of viewers globally over the course of the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics (#LA28). Being seen in the air by so many will be a big boost for Archer and the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry.

Midnight is Archer’s piloted electric air taxi designed to carry up to four passengers + carry on luggage, on rapid back-to-back flights of 20-50 miles with minimal charge time in between, while producing less noise and emissions than a traditional helicopter. The eVTOL aircraft is built with redundant, fault-tolerant systems, including 12 total engines and propellers, allowing Archer to target certification with the FAA at similar levels of safety as commercial airliners.

Archer’s goal at the Olympics will be for passengers to be able to go to a vertiport take-off and landing hub near a key venue and then fly 10-20 minutes in Midnight to their destination of choice within Archer’s LA network, which will include the Stadium in Inglewood, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and Los Angeles International Airport.
