Air New Zealand launch Economy Class Bunk Beds

Air New Zealand (ANZ) have unveiled their new economy class ‘Skynest’ mini dormitories, featuring six bunks that will be available to book on flights from 18 May 2026.

Each Skynest bunk (“pod”) provides a quiet, private space with a full-length mattress, bedding, ambient lighting, ventilation and charging ports (USB C & A).

The six-bunk Skynest dormitory will sit between the Economy and Premium Economy cabins on the airline’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which are scheduled to take to the skies from November on some of ANZ’s ultra long-haul flights between New York and Auckland.

Economy passengers can’t lie flat for the duration of the flight. The bunks (sorry, “pods”) are available for pre-booked four-hour sessions. After that they have to return to their seats.
