By Now I wouldn’t ordinarily promote a new car just for the sake of it, but this is a new Bentley (my Dad loved Bentleys), it looks pretty cool, and yesterday it was given its global launch in London.
Key points…
It’s Bentley’s fourth model line, adding a fully electric powertrain to existing ICE* and Hybrid Bentley models and delivering something of a kick with up to 888 PS** and 1,350 Nm of torque***. Put another way, it can do 0-60 mph in as little as 2.8 secs!
And it has a range of up to 375 miles (600 km WLTP****)
Will you see it coming? Maybe not, but you might hear it. It has a handcrafted propulsion sound performed by musicians and “inspired by the beat of a Bentley 6¾ litre V8”.
Price? Who knows, I don’t see you or I owning one unless tomorrow’s Euromillions ticket comes in!
* Internal Combustion Engine
** Pferdestärke (German word for horsepower). It measures the vehicle’s total power output and determines its top-end performance and speed. 888 PS is an exceptionally high figure, a standard family hatchback usually has around 100 to 150 PS.
*** Newton-metres. It measures torque, which is the rotational force the motor produces. This determines how quickly the car accelerates from a standstill or pushes you back into your seat. 1,350 Nm is a massive amount of torque.
