Falklands Tribute by Standing With Giants is coming to Nothe Fort, Weymouth

The 255 silhouette Falklands Tribute remembrance art installation by Standing with Giants will be open to the public during November at Nothe Fort in Weymouth, Dorset.

The charity artwork comprises 255 life-size figures representing Seafarers, Royal Marines, Army, and Airmen and 3 civilians who lost their lives during the 1982 war on The Falkland Islands with Argentina.

This, and an identical display which is currently in the Falkland Islands, were created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of liberation on June 14th, 2022, and have since been seen on display at Thoresby Park, International Bomber Command and Royal Armouries Fort Nelson.

Standing with Giants is the charity founded and led by Oxfordshire community artist Dan Barton, that became famous for its 1,475-silhouette D-Day installation* last year, the 80th anniversary of D-Day. It specialises in creating large-scale remembrance art installations that provide a space where people can wander and reflect.

The Falklands Tribute at Nothe Fort will be open Wednesdays – Sundays, 10am to 3pm from 5 – 30 November 2025. Admission to the Falklands Tribute is included in the price of admission to Nothe Fort** (Adults £10.50). Tickets available on the Nothe Fort website.

Unlike the WW2 campaigns, whose remaining veterans are getting increasingly thin on the ground, most of those who served on the Falklands are ‘still standing’. So there’s an opportunity to visit the Falklands Tribute on certain days and hear first hand the personal stories of veterans who were there. A number of veterans are giving up their time to talk to visitors about their experiences on 5th, 8th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd Nov.

Co-General Manager at Nothe Fort, Mary-Anne Edwards says: “Nothe Fort is honoured to host Falklands Tribute by Standing With Giants. We have been overwhelmed by all the support from community groups and veterans groups that have come forward to offer help in installing and stewarding this exhibition. Thank you to our sponsor Portland Port for helping us bring the Falklands Tribute to Weymouth.”

* The 1,475 piece D-Day (aka ‘For Your Tomorrow’) installation by Standing with Giants is currently displayed at Royal Armouries Fort Nelson, Portsmouth, and will be there till 25 Jan 2026.

** There is a Concession ticket price of £8.95 for other armed forces Veterans and current serving armed forces personnel. Entry is FREE for Falklands Veterans and their immediate family, no booking needed.
